Retrieving my paintings

So
I have to go back to get my paintings
back to 3358 Wellington Ave in Vancouver
To get my airbrush works
which represent 20 years of work and struggle

My 20 or so cassettes
master tapes of old songs I created
memories

It kind of sucks.
I'd like to get my computer back, my harmonicas and their rack, my dean markley acoustic pickup
my 2000 DVD disks with all kinds of media i've been collecting.
Years of reasearch, utilities and music
things I can't replace
I'd like to put them all on a single hard drive someday
instead of dvds

But I know I'll probably not get any of it back.
I might get some of the paintings
the ones that haven't been ripped up or ripped off

I have to get a police officer to go
so I won't have to forcibly take them
funny eh?

I haven't even got cab fare to get the monitor for the computer
I'll have to carry it all on my back and in my hands
30 blocks to a place I can store it for a little while
out of the rain

2010 Olympics Evictions in full swing - Cultural Displacement policies disguised as a party!!

We remember Expo
There are condos now where once a few hundred people lived in the lowlands

I personally know of 10 people who have been evicted
I talked to someone yesterday, he said he knew of 10 people too

The BC government very quietly made some changes to the Tenancy Act
And they "streamlined" the evictions process

The Landlord can keep trying, over and over.
This little thing, that little thing, things that aren't a reason to evict even.
No one checks.
The poor person who's renting their room/suite
has to fight every month for their place to live
most give up, there's no one to help them fight these things

Kick out someone who's been contributing to their community for the last 10-15 years
do a quick repaint and some minor repairs,
label it a "renovation" on their paperwork
and it's streamlined
Rental rate increases ostensibly are 3.5% here
But a quick look at income statements of landlords in vancouver would show increases more than double the original rent as more than common.
"renovations" that actually fall under the heading of standard upkeep make it easy to evict
and no rental ombudsman
they can't take it to court,
but the "process" takes a couple of years
so in the meantime they are wandering
because minimum wage is so low that nothing really pays well enough
for a suite
70% or more of your earnings for a simple room
and you can't get a mortgage while some rich fucker has 20 mortgages.

That's what the Olympics is REALLY about

I've been talking about this for a decade, since before the Expo
I've researched it too
Everywhere the Olympics goes, everywhere in the world
the same fucking shit happens, over and over again

Shanty towns bulldozed overnight
Thousands of poor residents arrested and beaten
In the darkness
In the alleys

Millions spent on "Committees"
While private citizens spend their own $50
to take some sandwiches around to the poor of their neighborhood

Millions spent on police, and guns, and cameras
none of them spent on poor neighborhoods

Instead of giving them food and housing,
they are shipped off to far suburbs
to make their way, slowly
"home"

Instead of fixing their broken teeth and busted bodies
Giving them a bed and food
They shiver and starve
and watch the coffee shop owner
throw 300 donuts and muffins each day
into the dumpster
which he locks
before getting in his Beamer and driving away
His cellphone out the moment he sits behind the wheel
Happy as a pig in shit
Because he gets to write those donuts and muffins off
Tax money gained by food rotting inaccessible in a bin

Every building project
tendered by "low bid"
receives millions of last minute cash
to "finish on time"
They knew exactly how much and how long it would take
how much they would rake in

can purchase vacation homes
