Truth
It's an important thing
I always thought
Perhaps the most treasured
of all human moral concepts
Early on we teach our children
To Lie
By our example
we show them
that it's ok, it's right
for a bunch of people
they grew up thinking they could "Trust"
to lie to them
They can tell it's a lie, we see them looking confused
They can tell theres something wrong
that a lie is being told
but there's those presents to make them forget
the hurt
of realizing that someone they trust
is lying to them
Dishonest
Santa, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, Hell, surprise parties
All the lies we tell
And we wonder why we can trust no one
Lies in the media
Lies in the family
You can still give them presents
Without filling their heads
With Lies
Lies to make them be good?
Don't lie or Santa won't bring you presents?
Don't lie or you'll go to hell?
Waving your books of lies and fabrications
you convince them to be truthful amidst your falsehoods
Because you will get in the end
what you give them
won't you?
Tell them the truth
so that when a lie is told
they'll be able
to trust
their feelings
You cannot pass a Lie off as a "Joke"
It isn't.
You take a jackhammer to their innocence
and show them the way to be "adult"
is to finally take part in the Lies themselves
the only way to succeed
is to keep "secrets"
"dirty" secrets of the family
secret societies
secret knowledge
our "special" secret
secret hierarchies
Lies and secrets
A fractioned society
Missed Trust
splinters us apart
keeps us from ever
being close
Make your children the "other"
the opponent
the target
of your little "game"
whispered words hidden behind hands
looks and giggles
outright laughter
its only
for fun
