This weekend is the full moon before Samhain/Halloween.
When Ceasar created his calendar of the sun
it was specifically set to break apart the societal rhythm of the moon-cults
People often think Samhain and Beltane are on a specific day
That's not really the way
They really are week to fortnight festivals
and they were really tied to the moon, not a specific day
it would be the full moon closest to the first frost
When all the fields were sown
the livestock in
everything preserved and packed, and salted
all the work for winter is finished
and as the work is finally done
before the snow
we would have a great festival
for everyone
eat the extras we think we do not need to preserve
rest
and connect again
with each other
before we all go inside
for winter
Why isn't Halloween/Samhain a Statutory Holiday?
It's labelled as "entertainment"
and since the christianized holiday is earlier in the month
neopagans and earth spiritualists
don't get their time to rest and meditate
communicate and connect
while the moon is full
at their time
I see all the people out at Halloween
for most of them
it is a more important event
than the great and holy christian Christmas
They would prefer to eat their meal at Soltice
So why, after all these centuries
when the christians have tried
over and over to ban Samhain
to make Halloween, all hallows eve
completely secular
entertainment
devoid of the reason for its being
when we all rest
eat
take time
to think
together
we make connections with each other
outside of the control structure of Christianity
This is one of the strongest tools
the Taliban of the Cross
wields against us
this ability to label
our gatherings
and circles
tribal dances
and entheogenics
as "entertainment"
not spirituality
There is a reason for the moon
being central to this
its pull on blood
elongating movements of liquid in our soggy bodies
we gather and relate
telepathically
etherically
Talking with shadows
and relating our conversations
in our books
notes to ourselves to remember
what they would enslave
and tire
and harry
us
to forget
