Ah well.
Once again we get an elected public official claiming a "majority"
When in fact only 23% or so of the people eligible to vote actually voted for them.
Ridiculous 3 - pieces of I.D. rules, long lineups in poor ridings, lineups without cover from rain, overworked people without time to spend 2 hours, the same old shite repeats itself again and again.
Less than 50% of the public eligible to vote voted, because of the above, and also because it's a waste of time, there's 3 fools to choose from and everyone knows in their heart it's a system designed by the wealthy to keep power in the hands of the wealthy.
Our apathy knows no bounds, we are jaded and worn.
So the "winner" gets in with 47% of the 50% of voters votes.
1/4 of the population is considered "the majority"
I'm arguing with an acquaintance over compulsory voting yesterday.
My point once again is made.
Who can really call this sort of sham a "mandate"
Anyways. Pour gordie a half dozen victory drinks and hand him his car keys....
