Haven't posted an article in so long People don't read anymore. Especially blogs. I am starting up with utube to put some of this blog stuff into video format. Did you realize that less than 10% of printed books ever break even? The entire industry runs off of the 10% that make money The other 90% are just to balance out the accounting with some losses. People don't read. Perhaps in the future there will be no english lit classes. People won't write or make art or music those will be things that robots and ai do People that try to do those things will be scolded, or mocked oh wait, its already at that point. I wrote so many stories, got 50k views on my stories back then
but no one reads now I have to make my stories into Youtube content. Mama don't let yer children grow up to be writers...

The Boy Who Fell

I've been having trouble sleeping. I kept remembering something. And I have a swollen tooth as well. When I was about 12, I lived in a rural community. I took the bus to school each day, a half hour there, and hour and a half coming home. I got used to sleeping on busses. Near the summer, we went on a schooltrip in the scoolbusses to a place called Sunwapta Falls, just east of Jasper. It wasn't just my classes from my school, we stopped at another town and we packed into 3 or 4 schoolbusses with kids from another school. This kid from the other school was put beside me, he was very talkative, but I was very tired. I normal got tired just before noon. I fell asleep on the bus during the trip. Once we were there we went with our guides and watched the falls and went to a bridge and stuff. Our group of maybe 10 got back to the busses about a half hour before some of the older kids who went for a longer walk, so the adult we were with told us we could look around the forest around the parking lot, but of course stay back from the fences. I was walking with this kid who I didn't know who had been sitting with me, but I didn't really know him at all, I don't know his name. there was a fence and a huge noisy waterfall. On the other side of the fence was a rock ledge about 5 feet out from the fence.the fence was rolled up at the bottom where people had snuck under to sit on the ledge. The other boy crawled under the fence and stood there looking. He turned back to me and told me to come on, it was fun. He was dancing to himself, really excited on the ledge. I crawled under and on my belly to the edge. I couldn't tell flat or straight up. The sound was roaring and the water spray made it impossible to focus properly. I couldn't even sit up. I felt I would fall and I crawled back, backwards, because I felt like I was falling even on the rock, I was dizzy. I remember him dancing, like actually standing on one leg and kicking it about. I said something about being scared and he should come back to the fence, but he wouldn't.
I told him I would go back to the bus. I walked over the bump with the treee and a few feet more, then realized I should get him. The tree with the bump in the path totally obscured the view, when I went over the hill I couldn't see him. I called to him and figured he was hiding in the bush across the path, but it seemed odd, I didn't feel that I had been on the other side of the bump long enough for him to crawl under the fence, cross the path, and hide, but the roaring was freaking me out. The possibility that he had fallen didn't occur to me, I was afraid of the waterfall. I went back, and there was no one really about the bus so I went and sat back down on the bus and fell asleep, waiting for the the other groups to come back. I was woken up by a woman I din't know well asking me about my friend. I was confused. She said "you friend -----, that you were sitting beside on the trip, she was acting like I knew him and I was confused, I told her I didn't really know him, I had just met him a couple hours ago, and I didn't know his name, she kept saying his name and I was confused "Where is----?" I don't know that person, I just met them today. We aren't really friends, and I don't know them. "The boy you were walking with down the path, Where is he?"
So I told her he was down the way by the fence and that I was scared and tired so I came back. I wanted to go back to sleep, I was wishing she would leave me alone. She made me show her where we had been, and I took her there and showed her the place and explained that I couldn't stand up, and I was scared so I had crawled back and went back to the bus. She asked more questions and I was confused, but I told her that I had stopped walking back, and looked over the hill to call him to come to the bus, but he wasn't there, and I pointed out to her that he must've hid in the bushes, but I really didn't think I had been gone long enough for him to move that far.
She took me back to the bus, and we all had to stay there a while.
I fell asleep again. When I got home my asked me about my friend, and I said he wasn't my friend mom, I didn't know him, he was from the other school.
She didn't say anything about his fate, no other teacher said anything else to me, no one ever told me that he had died that day.

 Ack. Pfftht.
I have done it.
I have released the grip of Facecrack on my life
its endless lovely nothings of pitifully minor substance
a never ending parade of facecracked munkeys howling at poo.

I like the longer format of the now outdated blog platform.

And, I have a camera now, with another to come, and a greenscreen
so I can fullfill my childhood dream of making a fake newscast a'la SCTV.
And nails. I can make adverts for nick's nails, or maybe organs.

So I return to the blog where I can spew for a number of minutes at an ad nauseaus time

without being interrupted by the screams of christian maga trolls and twisted isolationists.

I have become a digital sculptor and am taking it seriously
I've had this Zbrush program for many years
but it is very

I finally got over that and now I'm over my head with it

I have moved into tablets, and have a couple I'm learning to configure for sculpting
I love it
I spent years learning stop motion and physical gore fx, then I was a freak about polygons for years and now I just want to sculpt dragons and cool shit.

Food poisoning: projectile liquid deterrents....

So I got food poisoning from romain lettuce this week
Some big recall of romaine from the states that No Frills and Dole obviously ignored because I bought it 3 days after the news flash,
So it should never have been on the shelf.
Anyway.
Poor people don't get compensated for corporate food poisoning, its bad for big business. But apparently they can't ship veggies from that part of the states to us now.

Anyway I had 4 days of projectile diarhea

I was fine but
It can be a bad thing
and I have never gotten food poisoning from a vegetable before
I thought contact with meat or filthy surfaces was necessary
but again
I have lived in very rural shacks and tents and camps before and I have cooked many things without running water or cleaning agents.
never got sick
only from bad meat.

but apparently it gets splashed on the lettuce from the animal manure when rain hits
and washing doesn't get it off.

it has to be cooked
or 

covered in an acidic solution such as Vinegar or Citric(lime/lemon),
it has to fully coated in the creases and sit with the acid on for 10.
Standard vinegar normal strength kills 90% of food bacteria in 10 min.
(balsamic really is better)
pure lemon/lime should sit a bit longer unless it is concentrated.
If you have another edible acid go ahead but it should be a strong as vinegar in taste

then your salad is safe as you could make it reasonably.

I had a creamy light lemon dressing in the package of Dole Salad Mix
I wasn't acidic.
I should have vinaigretted it.
and I should have not bought precut salad
the bacteria can hide in the cuts!

So.
You get some food poisoning.

lots of sleeping, many bathroom trips

I didn't realize I had it till end of day 2, just thought I had eaten crappy food but not bad or off.

These are my remedies for after the fact

1. Honey. Preferrably unpasteurized.
Honey is actually bee spit for the baby queen and contains a number of enzymes and components that are very antibiotic to protect her
Making tea, letting it cool just a bit so it isn't full boil heat, add honey.
Its not vegan, but your guts will immediately thank you, and the bathroom trips should decrease.
It actually kills most bacteria, and was once put on wounds that were infected.

2. Ginger. Ginger doesn't kill e.coli, but it soothes things in your grumbly gut mixed with the honey tea.

Ginger that is cooked and slightly carmelized actually creates 2 substances which are antibacterial and they will pass into the lower gut

3. Oregano. In soup, or tea, or as an oil. Its one of the most potent natural antibacterials but its chemicals don't travel down into the gut unless its in food. The tea will kill bacteria in the mouth, esophagus, stomache. Its in the oil so you can't cook it hard or too hot
It works in a bath to disinfect skin. Never put it directly on something unless its REALLY infected, because in droplet strength the oil burns skin.
It will also irritate your esophagus if you make a strong tea of it.

4. Yogurt. Not right away. Because E.coli will eat the sugar.
but a small bit each day does help. Eat more after its over because your body will actually kill off all the  bacteria in your gut by successfully killing the e.coli.

5. Cinnamon.
I forgot cinnamon.
It is actually a proven antibacterial for mouths and guts, goes well with ginger and honey.
Cinnamon toast  and cinnamon honey tea...

I wish I had started drinking the honey ginger tea sooner.

modding bethesda

I just learned how to do some basic modding in bethesda games by changing the moerates and eyebots in Fallout 3

I'll write a much longer article about the fallout and skyrim games
and rpg's

but i'l dump this here, the instructions of how to replace a molerat

short version

extract the meshes and textures with bsa extractor

meshes-creatures-molerat

textures-creatures-molerat

open molerat.nif with nifscope

click the main body / main "trishape" then file-export obj

import game mesh as tool

do not ever change the vertices or add any, the meshes are NOT closed.

You can only work on the subd mesh as sculpt and paint or you will mes up the uv's and animation weighting which is tied to the low poly lowest subd vertices.

subd 7 times and import the texture molerat.dds, flip it vertically and apply

maybe save or duplicate the tool

create polypaint from texture at sdiv 7

go nuts, only use flat or skinshade mat, mats are useless in this flow

when done export the tool as obj at the lowest subd

which is the raw import mesh

create a new texture from polypaint at the sdiv 7

it helps to delete all other subds while doing these last operations and just keep reloading the highres tool if necessary

also at highest generate a normal map then clone it flip it export it

in a any editor you can convert to .dds

convert both

next time I'll look, maybe zb can export straight to dds

dxt1 is fine and it will work without mipmaps, it will just appear red in the geck level editor,

so open nifskope, select the body/main trishape go ile-import obj

it will warn you about replacing the current selected trishape choose the zb exported low res which will be the original obj with the points moved to the new form.

save the nif in the

game/data/meshes/creatures/molerat/

save the main .dds uv texture rom zb and the nm from zb

in game/data/textures/creatures/molerat/

create the directories if they don't exist

the normal map needs to be tangent space, check its direction, it should be called molerat_n.dds

if you have archive invalidated set on your bethesda game then at this point you should be able to play it and see the zb modified creatues and texture if you go to an are with that creature.

that's the simple version.

The first thing I would say
is that it hurt like fuck
kind of like having someone kick you in the chest with something pointy and hard
like tap shoes
or someone sticking their finger into your lung hard and pressing it till it collapses.

My nose was swollen shut, I had like a millimetre of air flow
and my mouth was so dry that every breathe was an excruciating rasp

That was when I decided to go to emergency.
I was so tired, I needed to sleep,

but I felt if I was to doze my breatthing would stop
I felt like my lungs were atrophying and just wouldn’t fucking pump

it was past 2 in the morning
the ambulance, the waiting time, the shitty hospital

I was sure it was just my asthma, I needed my inhalers and had no antihistamines.
I hadn’t had them for about 2 weeks and the first grass cutting of the year had started the day before

There were no “symptoms” on the news then,
the first cases in north america had just been detected on travellers

I didn’t go to emergency.
I took the strongest circulatory stimulant I had
2 hits of acid
drank several cups of coffee
and stayed up all night

mostly lying in the bottom of the tub with the curtain closed breathing as much steam as I could to loosen the dryed out slime in lungs enough to cough out some pieces that allowed me to breathe.

I went the next morning to the clinic
but I didn’t get any help
and no one suggested I had cv-19
because it was a downtown eastside British Columbia clinic
so no one cared
and no one there,
at that time
was informed about the symptoms or fever or anything
all they talked about then was a dry cough and whether or not you had been overseas.

So.

I went to the clinic and was very tired,
I still had no money for antihistamines but I knew they would give me my inhalers, one of which acts like an antihistamine.

I had a fever and my bones ached and I was sneezing
all of which are normal for me after grass cutting day if I don’t have antihistamines.

So I go,
and its a shit show
there are 5 junkies in visible sight outside the clinic
the harsh ones
inside is misery and stupidity
lonely poor people using the clinic as their social interaction
I can barely stand I’m aching
My eyes itch
she tells me it will be 2 hours for me to see a doctor
I can’t take the misery so I go for a walk
I buy 2 cans of beer and know I can get some antihistamines in a different neighborhood
like $5 for 10
so I know I will have those later
I drink the two beers feeling like shit
cold
waiting in downtown east van

I get back to the clinic with 35 minutes to go
after 5 I can’t take the junkie misery
the place is filled with the breathing and smell of really harsh junkie humans with sores and coughs

I tell the clerk I can’t wait here anymore and will come back the next day
She doesn’t care.

I go buy some antihistamines

They help.
A lot.

At home I continue to soak in the tub and try to breathe

The next day I go early to the clinic
and I get a doctor in about 20 min

At this point covid is still not prevalent in Canadaa and there is no lockdown
there is still no set of symptoms to look for except a “dry cough”

I see the doctor
I tell him its normal for me to have sneezing sniffles, congestion, hacking up
I explain that I have had
sneezing, runny nose, hacking up white sputum, aching bones like a fever.

These are all common symptoms for me in the spring
since I was 13 ish

spring time asthma and the same in forest fire season
perfumes do me in tooso the doctor fills my prescription for my two inhalers and a nose spray
he suggests I do a lung check to see if there are better inhalers

there is no suggestion of covid

I go, and head to my old neighborhood to see the pharmacist.

I stop to see my cousin
she wants me to stay and chat but I tell her I can’t
I cover my face with a scarf there and don’t stay long

In case it isn’t my asthma I tell her
because it really was starting to hurt in my leeft lung
badly
a dull pain
like my lung muscle was suffocating or something

The news is still talking about dry lungs and dry coughing

I have big wet sneezes and when I cough thick white goops comes out
My lung hurts
like its burning
which is common if I’ve inhaled pollen
until I cough it out it burnss my lung

When I use the inhalers and the antihistamines I get almost immediate relief
so I figure its just the hay fever

for the next 2 weeks I have constant chest burning, I use my flovent inhaler each morningad it maakes me immediately hack up a lot of shit

I have several times where my neck stiffens on one side
extremely painful
and I feel like someon kicked my lung and collapsed it.
If I don’t take the antihistamines my chest burns

my nose swells up inside and I can barely breathe, I use the corticosteroid nose spray ind it goes down enough to breathe

I don’t really notice a temperature
on me but I become hypersensitive to heat changes
I have to turn the heat off
if the heater runs during the night I wake up with my lungs and mouth completely dry

I’ve always had touchy heat and low vetilation,
so I can’t say for sure

there is nothing on the news about your lung feeling collapsed, or coughing phlegm, or sneezing, or extreme burning in lungs, or stiff neck, or sore kidney are and associated cloudy urine

They just talk about a dry cough.

I scrape through the next 2 weeks with my inhalers and antihistamaines
and gradually it clears up

hay fever doesn’t “clear up”

so anyway

a month after I contract it
the pain in my kidneys is finally gone.

So I guess i should tell you
I got it from the EMERGENCY waiting room at ST.Paul’s.

A junkie from main and hastings attacted my on the city bus
no transit police aided me
I went to emergency myself with a dislocated shoulder
in there
waiting
there was a german woman sniffling badly and a south american with sweaat all over his face.
The waiting area is small and close
and I remember thinking
wtf.
Lets sniffling contagious ppl sit in the waiting area with a sickness alert
but I was in too much pain to care.

3 days later I started to sneeze and sniffle,
and a week later I couldn’t breathe.

I wish there had been reliable symptoms posted
I don't believe there are as yet even

I have understood about various pathogens, virii, bacteria, insects, poisons since my early teens

I read a lot and I actually read a lot of older books
I read science
In my early twenties I was a fan of hesse and his recurring theme of the black plague made me investigate the plague. Then there is Camus of course, showing us the opportunism and lynch mob madness and chaos a plague can create. And then there are all the infected zombie games over the years.

In my studies of science I learned about Brownian motion where small particles hold aloft heavy ones for quite a distance, and about liquids dispersed in air, and viral/pathogenic methods of infection.

I wear sandals in the public pool because I've gotten rashes from poorly cleaned public places and learned to wear sandals, put something on what you sit on, and of course
use the hotub early in the day so you haven't got the soup of the 30 previous people on you.

I don't sneeze on busses, I don't crowd in to people, I don't spray when I speak

I don't normally touch a lot of foreign objects now.

I lived outside with my dog for a year and a half while I was homeless for about 4 years.

But I kept clean.

The symptoms I think you should know aabout are these:

I had sneezing and increased chest phlegm that was white.
I am normally a chain smoker who spits up black in the morning.
White is antibodies, which does actually occur to me in a major allergy attack, but this was a different.

I went back and forth when it got bad after a week, I would have lots of clear phlem with very white chunks in them, then I would be so dry my breath was weezing and hurting, back and forth.

Temperature sensitivity.
If my thermostat was on even half a degree too high I would break out in a sweat.

I felt like I needed to rip my skin off several times
I couldn't breathe and I was constantly too hot or cold.

I needed to go walking
I would sleep at day and walk all night
I needed air and my suite doesn't have a balcony or airflow
If someone had tried to keep me from going for a walk at night I would have tried to kill them and myself I needed to walk long distance along the water at night or I felt I would suffocate to death.

No one helped me with it.
My MHSD rep  at Elizabeth Fry had mocked me and delayed/obfuscated my request for a bed for over a year, and I couldn't get any emergency funds.
They were being cunty and discriminatory and mocking like always
and I didn't have the energy to deal with their shit

So I went through all this sleeping on a camp mat

You all want to "get back to normal"
I don't give a fucking shit.
At all.
Nothing changes either way for poor people like me,

The bank gets the bailout not the people
just make a war or disaster every ten years and you can throw the people's money into the rich hog crowd.

They will try to use this as an excuse to tag and track everyone now

I survived it myself.
Why don't you just give money to people who have it and then you'll get a real picture of how many there are
I tell you as I write this the world news says about 2 million cases and 250k deaths

I tell you it is 3 - 4 times that much

We are already at 2 million deaths worldwide as of today I say.
We can argue about it in 10 years.

Nor only could I not breathe
I almost had a heart attack several times
it would feel like my lungs would stop pumping
like I had to force myself to breathe like doing pushups.

it also felt like muscles in my neck on the side and in back would tighten incredibly and my chest and heart too like that muscle was being starved of oxygen

it was incredibly painful and was probably from BLOOD CLOTS which apparently occurs in a large percentage of people.

It felt like someone hit me in the chest right over my heart with the end of a broom handle.

I would wake and drink 3 cups of water and immediately take an antihitamine to reduce the nostril swelling and burning chest.

Personally I think steam rooms would help people, antihistamines, then night it was worse I do believe if I hadn't taken the acid I would have suffocated in my sleep.

I wanted to talk about my kidneys though.
I didn't attribute the lower back/kidney pain to the virus because I had been doing some crunches over the previous week, but I believe the pain in my kidneys actually started quite early like 5 days in.
My kidneys were still sore and discharged some really dark cloudy smelly pee about 3 weeks later.

Maybe that will help someone else identify the real thing.

Walking, steam, flovent+hacking up, salbutamol sulfate to help breathing, loretadine antihistamines.
I also consistentlt took microdoses of lsd through the hard part where I couldn't breathe.

I'll think about it some more and see what else

Designing 3D games for Android with the Doom 3 GPL engine

I found a new source code fork of the Idtech 4 Doom 3 engine. With it we finally have a good open source port to Android of the base Doom3 executeable. The .apk only weighs in at about 30 megs installed and requires about 200 meg of core files to get up and running with a useable interface.
In a previous set of articles I expounded the value of this engine to indie developers who don't need all the bells and whistles of Unity or Unreal Engine 4.
Those game design systems are excellent but could be overkill for many games.
What's exciting is that I can actually play the full opening Mars City scene on this 10" tablet which has a completely lame ass mali gpu and 1G of ram.
And it actually looks great and runs smooth.
Now I'm not excited about playing the intro level for the gazillionth time, but i am excited that now there are GPL binaries for Win32/64, Linux, and Android and all file structures and basic OGL 2.8 shaders and assets work between the 3 platforms.
So, you can build your base game using the Dhewm source in windows or linux and the game will port almost directly to Android using the DIII4A or Dante-ES Android ports.
While testing I really began to realize how differently we have to design for small phone/tablet games, we can't really run and run and tap tap tap on the bus so we actually need less activity on the screen and more space.
A game series I really like on Android is the Xon series, because it show off this idea of simple almost quake 1 or original Myst designs.
The OGL ports of the idtech 4 engine are really phenomenal.  Normal mapping, specularity, reflection, shadows, glow maps, all look fantastic, and by using these older but simple and worthy techniques we can actually create very detailed environments that will run smoothly on almost every device running android that has basic opengl-es. Which is all of them.
One of the main reasons I like this engine is that it is possible to edit the source and compile without Micro$hit anywhere. It isn't necessary to use microsoft visual studio. All the other game engines force you to use visual studio.
Add 6-12 gigs of developer files later just so you can edit a few lines and compile

with the idtech 4 engine, you can edit the source in something light like code blocks or a text editor of your choice and compile using the standard GNU C++ compiler.
The complexity of that process is beyond many but its not necessary to the building of your game with this engine, if your basic game is a first or third person game with 3d assets and moves.
You simply begin your game design by modding the base game's assets while you develop scenery and characters, and you know that later a programmer will be able to tidy up the core code and compile it without too much monkeying about.
In the meantime you can build environments using GTK-Radiant or the Dhewm editor and test them using DIII4a or Dante-es on the android device you are targeting your design for.
I believe Android will become the os standard as we will eventually shift away from the destop computer model to devices that are self contained and work with  wireless inputs and outs.

So in the beginning of this year I went to court to sue the medical profession in British Columbia for not giving me proper healthcare, and for the specific actions of some doctors, but I had to start somewhere so I started with Dr. Rondeau in Taylor Vs Rondeau SCBC - S168471

To discredit my testimony and win at all costs, Jonathan and Joane hired a Christian Psychologist from America by the name of Dr. Lakresha Hall

I have to say right now that your phone SERVICE provider "might" have some sort of issues with you doing this, but what I will show you to do is not harmful but beneficial so you should be able to deal with it diplomatically.

Or use a cheap other phone to try it on first before you tackle your main device.

Our Android phone is running a computer operating system called android.

Android is "based" on linux which in turn was built on the foundations of Unix.

Android is basically a linux style OS under the hood and you can prove that to yourself by Rooting the phone, looking at the filesystem (which is laid out in Unix style) and installing a terminal and running linux/unix commands to the shell.

We haven't Rooted it yet though so we will have to get there.

When you  phone starts up
it first calls a Bootloader

This is the black screen at the start of a pc booting up where it says Amibios/Phoenix/American Megatrends/etc. then it checks the ram and hard drives and selects the boot drive with the OS

The phone has a separate "partition" that holds a "factory image" of the operating system so that if you muck up your phone you can reboot into a "Recovery Mode" which will allow you to "factory reset" the phone to the original stae when it was shipped.

The Bootloader can boot to the OS or boot into a Recovery Mode, a separate small tiny operating system designed to allow you to maintain and restore the device or "debug" it with commands while it is connected to a PC.

In order to put our own Android and configuration on the phone we have to wipe out the manufacturers "recovery partition" and os and replace it with one that has the ability to load device "images" that are not officially endorsed by the manufacturer.

there are a few Recovery Mode "images" we could use
I am going to focus on "Team Win Recovery Project" known generally as TWRP

If we can put TWRP on the Recovery Mode then we can load the device with new info in several ways

Unfortunately
our beloved device manufacturers love their bloated spyware riddled messes that they call an operating system and to "protect you" they encrypt the Bootloader so that the Recovery Image can only be loaded with an encrypted manufacturers image.

So we have to beg them for a key to unlock the bootloader so it will let us continue with our warranty voiding mission.

Obviously, it must be a phone you own at this point, because you have to go to the maufacturers website to get the unlock code for the bootloader.

It will tell you what to do
you will have to boot your phone into the manufacturers recovery, and probably install a utility to get a code back from the phone

you send this to them using the provided form
and you will get an unlock code with instructions to unlock your bootloader

Once you have the bootloader unlocked you will never have to do it again unless you restore the phone with the full manufacturer's device image.

so you unlock the bootloader
Download TWRP (the .IMG file, not the apk)

At this point, if you didn't have to do it to get the bootloader unlock code you have to get ADB and install it.

On Linux, to install ADB use:
$ sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
or install adb and fastboot with package manager

In windows we can either install a minimal adb fastboot

At this point I need to explain the crucial detail for you to understand:

Each phone is different
even from the same manufacturer
even from different production runs of the same device
this is because of drivers
in one build there is X networking card and y fm radio device and Z bluetooth chip, while a different model might use different chips for all 3
As well, the android devices throttle cpu speeds according to activity to maximize battery life and there are special drivers for that power management for each and every main cpu chip

So the Factory Reset that we use to boot up and load the main image in has to be written specifically for that phone, and any ROM image that we want to install containing either the manufacturers device image and the applicattions, or a custom ROM with proper drivers for the device and a base set of apps suited for the device, we need reset images .img and ROMS .rom that are SPECIFIC for our device.

The same goes for TWRP recovery, you need one for your specific device.

My phone is an HTC one for example.

I choose zenon because it is very slim and has a only a couple important applications and no google.
XenonHD is a security conscious OS.

base roms are about 350 megs and 1G when installed
the 4 that work for me are Slim, AICP, Resurrection, and XenonHD. Slim is too slim and the other two are fine but not as finely tuned as XenonHD imho.

the basic instructions:

You signed on to the manufacturers website into their developer section and you filled out the form or whatever other hoop you jumped and you got the unlock code for the bootloader.

You followed the instructions to install the unlock code into the bootloader.

You have booted into factory reset mode and at the top of your phone it says "tampered - bootloader unlocked" to test it

reboot the phone and on your computer you have intalled the sync manager and or the windows drivers
copy over the TWRP .img and the customrom.zip into the Download folder on the phone or even into the music folder, so you'll see it for sure.

reboot into factory reset mode
on my phone this is power and volume down at the same time for 3 sec.

Make sure the phone is plugged into the computer now and you have installed the adb fastboot into a folder.

lets say its c:\adb\

browse to that folder in windows and you will see 4 files.

right click in the window while pressing the control key and choose "open command prompt here"

or run cmd.exe
type

cd c:\adb

on the phone
look at the options in reset mode
there is boot
fastboot
recovery
etc

use the volume and pwr buttons to choose "fastboot"
your phone should switch to fastboot mode in red and it should after second say fastboo-usb if the cable is connected

on the computer type
fastboot devices

and your device should be listed

if it isn't retry or check the fastboot section of xda for your device

it should

copy the TWRP from wherever it is on you windows machineinto the folder where adb and fastboot are
rename it twrp.img

type in the folder c:\adb\ at the commandline
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

which means fastboot load image twrp.img and flash/write it to the partition called recovery.

it should start connecting then upload

when it is finished on the phone go out of fastboot mode back into the bootloader, and choose Recovery Mode.



The device should boot into TWRP
if it doesn't
just back into fastboot and  try another TWRP .img
you don't have to rename it it just makes it easier to type.

You can also use the same process to install cyanogen or another recovery img instead of twrp

you should now load into a recovery that does not look  like something from your manufacturer

if it works you can reboot your phone and it should be as it always was except the recovery is different under the hood

so lets get to the wiping out the rest of it bit

copy everything you like off the phone.
data "should" be safe but I'm not looking over your shoulder so be smart and back up.

Go back to the bootloader and into recovery mode
choose "install"
navigate to the xenonhd.zip or whatever rom you put in downloads or music.

let it do its thing
if it doesn't say successful keep trying
its best the first time to download 3 different rom types and more then one of each and put them in download so you can test 4-6 for compatibility and useability. I usually give them short simle names like xen17.zip and xen18.zip

it takes only 10 minutes or less to flash a rom and reboot.

its faster if you don't have craploads of music and documents on the device as those get counted on each roms first boot.

note that when you boot into a new rom if you have a file exploere in the rom you can look around and see your data files should still be there,  music files and stuff should too.

the documents are in a different filesystem partitionthan the system files so you can change roms and not lose all music and pics and docs

contacts usually flush though.

there you go!
take it for a spin!

I'll add some applications for you and explain how to do everything you would do with google, without using google.

but for now you have an unbloated non-spy phone!

When you first get your phone
before you start it up and first connect it to the internet
or after you've factory reset it with the manufacturer reset
your phones OS at the start with no movies/apps etc. is about 1.5 G.
Once you set up networking and connect to the net and let the phone update
the manufacturer will bloat your phone OS out to 6-9G in the nest day or so!

An OS only needs about 1.5 G for any computing device and basic applications.

The slimmest I've seen is 700 megs for a phone OS that workedm but it was basically only useable as a phone and basic browsing.

A good replacement OS on your phone will start at about 1.2 G with everything working and after you add some basic productivity, media viewing, games, and utilities it will end up at around 1.5 G

and it will not grow!

my phone doesn't have an extra SD slot so I definately did not want 5-7 G of completely useless crap that was intent on recording my every word and location and music preference

I wanted that extra 5 G for music and I have a personal dislI definate do NOT need someone to tell me where I am or give me a blue line from where I am to where I am going

so I now have the XenonHD or some other rom on my phone

What do I need to make it usefull?

To install apps into an android device we use two methods.
one is Google Play.
GPlay itself is an app, along with about 10 other apps in the GSuite, they are all installed together, installing one gets the others eventually.

it's so convenient most ppl never question Mother Google and her updates.

by downloading .APK android package files
so you look on a web search or Google Play for free apps you want to try, then search the web for a .apk

If your rom doesn't include an app called "files" or"file manager" to look at the files on the devices and select downloaded files try M/Xplorer or 7zipper.apk and it will be easier

untill you have a file explorer  you can only install a .apk by clicking the notification in the status bar that tells you it has downloaded


If you look at the apps on the basic rom you've installed over the factory one you see no google at all.

if you do,
try another rom
or spend the time uninstalling every single Google app.

Gmail itself, will run in your browser.
so you can get your mail.

the browser itself should not be Chrome
that's Mother Goolgle, uninstall it if its there and get Firefox Lite (27meg) instead of the full FFox (100meg). You also might find if you look in the apps of the phone there might be and unrecognized icon that is called "browser". If that works you might be fine but I have found that using FFox lite is best because you no that facecrack and google and everything will work in a FFox browser in a pinch.

I turn off location services and speech recognition on my phone.
Speech recognition is fun, but basically it records all speech around it into a text file
even when it is sleeping

Mother google gets a little update every once in a while containing everything said around the phone.
you agreed to let it so it could "train the voice recognition"

Anyway lets get a replacement for google maps which we can use in the FFox browser if we need to.

I use Maps ME.
You install it
choose the cities that you want maps for
it downloads a 40meg pack for each city or district
it works offline

Maps ME is free and uses open source maps
it works fine
I can read a maps and don't need directions.
if you want to talk to your phone to get where you are going
fine
I'm fine with looking at a maps and navigating by myself without Mother holding my hand.

Facecrack is pervasive. And gradually it will merge with Google into something more pervasive but for now lets get Facebook Lite which is 120m instead of 460 megs for the full facebook app and doesn't run like a sluggish snail or intrude on your notices when it's off.

The standard camera works but mine has a camera app from "cyanogen mod" that is very good, and there are numerous other better free camera apps with loads of options if the stock one on the rom you have installed sucks

To play music you will probably want a different player as most of the mods for phones have a very basic one

I use "Black Player" free version

there is an important note for you at this point if you use your phone for mp3 playing not just streaming.

in android/linux/unix ther are files and folders whose name start with a "dot"
they are called "dot files" and they are usually system files which  are hidden from the user

if you put 20 albums on your device
ones with album covers
in the music folder
when you open your photo viewer/gallery app
you might see all the album covers mixed in with your pictures!

The android os scans all the user data partition for media at startup

if a folder of pictures that isn;t in your dcim camera or picturs folders keeps showing, then you need to go into your music folder and place ".nomedia" file there.
in the top level of the music folder
the pictures should disappear from your gallery after a reboot since music won't be scanned

but then the standard music player won't see the music!

so "Black Player" and a couple other music apps will ignore the .nomedia file

the other option is to change your gallery/viewer software to a better one that allows you to set "exceptions" on folders like the music folder and the software will not show the files in that set of folders

my favorite is called F-Stop

if you want the fm radio you will have to get the apk of the fm radio player that your manufacturer releases, most of them release an apk for their fm radio players to the main apk repositories as a service to their customers who have changed their devices.

to test the 3d capability of your device the 4 Xon games are good. You could download any one of them and test your 3d in about 5 minutes

for free apk word games I suggest Crosswords Free, Wordsearch Free, Hangman Free, and Word Connect
all of which play offline
